Swedish massage has many techniques associated with it, but in general, the therapist uses long, gliding strokes to relax the muscles of your body. Firm pressure can be used with these techniques, but deep pressure is not used.
Other techniques include kneading, friction, vibration, and tapotement (to rap, or drum) to name just a few. We recommend communicating with your therapist throughout your massage session to tailor the session to your needs at the present moment.
Deep Tissue is the manipulation of the deeper layers of muscle and soft tissues in the body. The therapist uses warm oils, or lotions, and direct pressure to relax the top layer of muscle in order to reach deeper layers of the muscle tissue.
What you may experience in this type of massage depends on the therapist you are seeing, but “no pain, no gain,” is not something our therapists agree with. Given enough time, your muscles will relax enough for the therapist to reach the deeper muscles.
Pre-natal, or pregnancy, massage modifies the Swedish massage techniques mentioned above, allowing the therapist to work on the pregnant woman in what is known as the side-lying position. The therapist uses pillows along the body to support and position the client, bringing the legs in line with the hips and taking pressure off the already overworked low back area.
Some deep tissue techniques can be used on the upper body in this position, but no deep tissue work may be done below the waist.
Chair massage is a style of seated massage that is typically short — 10 to 20 minutes — and focuses on your back, shoulders, neck, and arms.
Chair massage is done over clothes and doesn’t require any massage oil or lotion, making it an excellent choice for corporate/business office staff.
Mobile massage services are available. The therapist needs a clear area in your home, hotel, rental, etc., of approximately 10′ X 10′, to setup their table and other equipment to bring your massage experience to you. The mobile massage services cost more than our regular services due to set up/break down and travel time.
We can also provide massage for your events or parties, whether they be Girls’ Day, Bachelorette, or other similar themed events. Jason has done these kinds of events in Houston, League City, Galveston, and Austin, TX, as well as Louisana and North Carolina.
Please contact us with any questions you have regarding our mobile services.
Reflexology is the scientific study and application of specific techniques that affect the reflexes to normalize, balance and encourage homeostasis within the body. According to author, Mark Beck, “…reflexology is based on the principles that reflex points in the hands and feet are related to every other organ in the body. By applying pressure to a reflex point, the practitioner can effect certain beneficial changes.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, “several studies funded by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as anxiety and depression, and enhance relaxation and sleep. Studies also show that reflexology may have benefits in palliative care of people with cancer.”
Cupping involves the use of cups applied to a patient’s back in a series of positions in order to produce suction. The vacuum effect targets areas of skin and deep tissue within the back, which is beneficial for dulling pain, breaking up deep scar tissue, and relaxing tender muscles or connective tissue. In this way, cupping is almost like the opposite of getting a massage since instead of applying pressure to swollen areas, it draws pressure out. For this reason cupping is often done in patients who experience chronic lower back pain, muscle knots, tightness due to anxiety, swelling or stiffness.

This is the beginner’s ‘beginners’ class. We have too many conversations with people that tried a “beginner’s class” that resulted in them feeling embarrassed and frustrated. The common quote we hear is, ‘Everyone else knew what they were doing except me’.
We try to keep these classes small, and customize it to everyone’s needs. We go over typical yoga terms and do simple, easy poses to begin the mind-body link. We will also teach relaxation breathing techniques.
This is our version of an ‘open yoga class’. We place more emphasis on unraveling the body after sitting all day. We will cover maintenance moves that you can do throughout the day. This is considered fairly low impact and not very active/sporty. We will also be teaching breathing relaxation breathing techniques.
This class is more for the spirit! All walks-of-life are welcome. We are going to connect with others in a non-judgmental and accepting manner, and allow the good energy to flow. We will do poses and meditations that focus on being grounded and instruments of peace. By all means, bring your prayer beads or special tokens if you desire.
This set of courses is for someone who is little more serious about learning yoga. It consists of three (3) levels, each building off of the prior level. Each level has two parts that will be six weeks long for each of the two parts.
In each lesson, we will teach 2-3 new poses in-depth, and then we will continue with poses already learned in prior lessons. Students may decide to continue after the close of each part. This will also include an overview of meditation techniques. We designed this progressive yoga class with emphasis on mind-body connection and flexibility. Any student in this program can attend a lesson for their level or lower.
There is a ‘graduate’ level which we will discuss with the student on a case-by-case basis.
Traditionally, Yoga is taught in a one-to-one setting. The intimacy and self-discovery that takes place on the yoga journey sometimes needs some personal guidance. The session will be custom-tailored to suit your needs. The length of time for your session(s) will be discussed before you begin. Please Email Janine, or call 832-294-9645, to discuss your intentions and rates.
